Help: Post an Open Invite

[Help Contents]

You can use the Open an Open Invite dialog box to put an "open" invite for a game on Pocket-Monkey, an invite anyone can accept. You get to the dialog box by choosing Games | Open Invites from the menu, choosing the type of game you want to post an invite for from the drop-down list of games, and then clicking the [Post your own Open Invite for ___] link just above the list of existing invites.

The dialog box looks something like this (the colors will vary based on your color theme); underneath the image we'll walk through the steps:

Here's how to post an open game invite:

  1. The Game field: Choose the game for which you want to post an invite.
  2. The Game time limit field: Choose the time limit for the game. This applies to any games that get created when people accept your open invite.
  3. The Note field: To put a note next to your open invite, type it here. It's a good idea to include a note with your open invite, something to give a player browsing for games a reason to pick your game! The note can use MonkeyTags if you like.
  4. The Show invite for up to field: Choose how long you want your open invite to be displayed on the site. After that many days, the invite is automatically removed.
  5. The Accept up to field: Choose how many games you want to get from this open invite. Each time someone accepts the invite and creates a game with you, it's counted. When you've gotten as many games as you want (based on what you say here), the invite is automatically removed. If you just want to get one game, you can set this to 1; if you want as many games as you can get, set it to 1,000!
  6. Click the Create Invite button!
